What are the Day 2 and 8 Tests?

​

As of August 2nd , people traveling to the United Kingdom from a Green or Amber list country and double vaccinated and not traveling from a red list country can:

​

• Not Self-isolate upon arrival;

• Take a compulsory RT-PCR home test on day 2

What to do before traveling to the United Kingdom?

​

Here is what you need to do before arriving in the United Kingdom:

​​

• Book and pay for your Day 2 and/or 8 tests, which will include the RT-PCR tests to be taken on day 2 and/or day 8 of your quarantine;

• Complete a passenger locator form with details of where you will self-isolate when you arrive and with your Test Package booking reference number.

​

** The booking reference number will be supplied to you via a separate email once we have an order confirmation. 

The booking reference number will start with the Prefix: MARES followed by a 7 digits. 

​

e.g: MARES0000100

How does it work?

​

You will need to order your test package before your arrival to the UK, as you will need to provide your booking reference on your Passenger Locator Form.

 

The package includes 2 RT-PCR tests that you will receive at home. You will need to carefully follow the instructions of the self-swab and return your kits straight after using them.

​

• The Day 2 test must be done on Day 2 of your self-isolation - results will be ready with 72 hours

• The Day 8 test must be done on Day 8 of your self-isolation - results will be ready within 48 hours

• Do both tests individually on the allocated days and send your kit back to our partnering UKAS accredited laboratory via the included return packaging.

Please note that these tests are not part of the Test to Release scheme. You will still need to finish your self-isolation period regardless of the results of your tests.

Where can I order my test?

​

You can now order your Day 2 and 8 tests with Mare St Clinic as we are on the Government’s list of providers.

 

Please note that you will still need to do your Day 8 test even if you take part in the Test to Release scheme and finish your self-isolation on day 6.

THE TRAVEL TEST PACKAGE WILL BE DELIVERED DIRECTLY THROUGH YOUR POSTBOX.

How Long does it take to get my results?

​

Please read the instructions included with your kit extremely carefully. Send the test back by Royal Mail Pre-paid Tracked 24 return envelope (Included) to the address on the instructions, or by any courier service that will deliver a Category B sample. Once the laboratory receives the test, the results will be available in 24 hours - 72 hours
